Theta Tau Chapter #670

P. O. Box 1561

Anniston, AL 36202

Greetings Men of Omega:

As Basileus of Theta Tau Chapter, I greet each of you in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Brothers of Theta Tau Chapter extend to you an Omega Man’s welcome to our website, home of the TNT Chapter. We are a chapter with a rich history and legacy that embrace the principles of Christian manhood, a humble spirit, and a commitment to service. Theta Tau Chapter was established in 1959 but the fraternity’s graduate presence in Northeast Alabama actually began several years earlier. Several of the chapters founding members, Brothers (Dr.) Clarence Jairrels, Dr. Gordon Rogers, and William Trammell and still living, with Brother Jairrels serving as Theta Tau’s  parliamentarian. We are presently a chapter of 32 strong, having recently initiated six Brothers into the sacred fold of Omega.

The Brothers of Theta are committed to uplift of the African American community, support all fraternity mandated programs, and provide additional financial and man hours support to organizations and activities such as the Sickle Cell Foundation Annual Birmingham and East Alabama Walk-A-Thon, Habitat for Humanities, scholarships to high school seniors in Calhoun and Talladega Counties, food baskets to needy families during Thanksgiving and Christmas, and toys to the Community Enabler and a needy family during Christmas.

Theta Tau has been blessed to host three Alabama state meetings since 1991. Our Brothers and chapter have received prestigious state and district awards such as Omega Man of the Year, Superior Service Award, Meritorious Service Award, and Citizen of the Year.

The Brothers of Theta Tau Chapter are extremely proud of a new project initiated to commemorate civil rights workers whose bus was burned as they traveled through Anniston, AL on May 14, 1961, by placing a historical marker at the exact sight of this tragic incident.

Several goals and objectives initiated by this office for fiscal year 2006-2007are as follows:

  • To embrace and carry out the mission set forth in our national theme, ”Three Looks, One Focus: Family- Fraternity-Friendship”
  • To increase chapter membership by 30 percent through reclamation and the membership selection program.
  • To institute two or three annual fundraisers that will generate approximately $5000.00 for scholarships and social action projects.
  • To become more visible in the community and through partnership and collaboration with other organizations and agencies to promote the educational, political, social, and economic agenda of the African American community.
  • To fully utilize our website, the local media, state QUE VIEW, and Oracle to publicize and highlight our accomplishments and projects.
  • To include our local undergraduate chapters, Theta Eta and Gamma Psi Chapters in all of our social action projects, attend their chapter meetings, and encourage their presence at our chapter meetings.
  • To have representation at every State and District Meeting, Grand Conclave, National Leadership Conference, and Undergraduate Summit.

The Brothers of Theta Tau will continue to” be Bridge Builders, See It Through, Live Our Creed, know that It Can Be Done, cherish Mother to Son, be Gentleman, and live by the principles in Psalm 133.” Our cardinal principles of Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift will be our guiding light. “And when we say our last good-bye, we’ll love Omega Psi Phi”.

We pray God’s riches blessings, his peace, prosperity, and joy upon you and your families.

“Long Live Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.”

The Brothers of Theta Tau Chapter,

Brother Johnny L. Harris, Basileus
